Minority Homeowner Assistance Collaborative (MHAC)
Loan (DPAL) Program Update

The DPAL Program is not accepting new applications until July 2012. Please check back in July for updated information and thank you for your interest in the DPAL program. If you have any questions please contact Ardelia at 503-595-3517. Thank you and we look forward to working with you.

The Down Payment Assistance Loan (DPAL) program is a homebuyer assistance tool designed for first time, low-to-moderate income homebuyers interested in purchasing a home in the Interstate Corridor or Lents Town Center Urban Renewal Areas. The Portland Housing Bureau has contracted with the Minority Homeowner Assistance Collaborative (MHAC) to prepare, screen and refer MHAC clients for the DPAL Program. Short Sale properties are not eligible for this program.

Homebuyers must use the home purchased through DPAL as their primary residence for the life of the loan and must be a US citizen or legal resident. Once the home is purchased, there are no ongoing income limits or annual income certifications due. DPAL awards are up to $40,000, and are based on need.

To obtain a DPAL, applicants must apply and be screened and referred by MHAC. Since AAAH is a member of MHAC, you may contact Ardelia Gipson at 503-595-3517 ext. 301 or email: ardelia@aaah.org.
