"Get Your Money Right"

Young Adult Financial Education Program

AAAH’s “Get Your Money Right” Young Adult Financial Education Program is an exciting hands-on, six-week program for young adults from low to moderate income communities.  This pilot program was launched at a local high school in NE Portland from March 2nd to April 13th, 2016, with twenty-two participants attending. At the closing ceremonies, lunch was served and certificates were awarded to twelve participants who successfully completed the program. Thanks to Wells Fargo Bank, graduates from the program received $25.00 to open savings accounts.

 

Participants learned through interactive scenarios, cooperative learning activities, videos, power point and presentations by banking and financial experts about essential tools of how to take control of their personal finances. Presenters included Co-facilitators Cheryl L. Roberts, Executive Director, AAAH, and Charles A. McGee, II, M.Ed.. Guest speakers were: Erwin Reese, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Community Affairs Specialist, CA; Darius Toston, Regional Diverse Segments, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, NV; and Brandi Delfosse, Service Manager, Wells Fargo, OR.
